It was Hans Jirasek, the builder of the establishment, who in 1936 gave his name to this erstwhile mountain refuge, reminding the flying Icarus of Greek mythology. 1956 saw Berta Siebenförcher as host of the Icarus and in 1971, she and her husband Andreas were to become owners. Daughter Irmgard with her husband Walter Sattler has run the hotel since its construction in 1987, which were followed by complete renovation and extensions in 2002.
