In 1936, the word "Icaro" was pronounced for the first time on the "Seiseralm". At this time Mr. and Ms. Jirasek have built up a small mountain inn under really hard working conditions. Hans (Jack) Jirasek - a trailblazer concerning skiing at the "Seiseralm" - built a small ski-jump - and he jumped there like crazy ..... The admiring guests having their meals at the inn said to him: "You are flying like Icarus". Icarus was the guy who wanted to fly to the sun, some thousand years ago. (Icarus in Italian language is pronounced ICARO). From now on that little mountain inn was called Icaro.

Berta Siebenfoercher (senior partner of Hotel Icaro, nowadays) started to work in 1956 as a waitress at the mountain inn. She was working hard and in 1964 she got the mountain inn in lease together with her husband, Andrew, and her daughter Irmgard.

After many successful years the Siebenfoercher Family bought the whole property in 1971. From that on the house always was owned by the same family.

In 1987 the small hotel was completely rebuilt under the direction of Mr. Walter Sattler, son-in-law and husband of Irmgard.
In summer 2002 the hotel underwent a series of extension works which turned the small but beautiful hotel into today’s jewel – the Hotel Icaro.
