sculpturebreakfast 365 days came out of the idea of transforming the everyday act of making breakfast into an exercise in creativity. Every morning for an entire year, the artists Marco Pietracupa and Hannes Vonmetz Schiano created a small sculpture using whatever was on their tables. They then photographed it and shared it on Instagram. The result was a sequence of 365 images, a poetic archive consisting of light, matter and minimal interference in which photography, sculpture and conceptual art come together in an ongoing dialogue between the two artists. The project, which started out as a bit of fun, went on to become both discipline and freedom in that it was an invitation to slow down, look at routine from a different perspective and discover the poetry hidden inside an egg, a slice of bread or a teaspoon balanced precariously over a coffee cup. Today, sculpturebreakfast 365 days comes alive in a small exhibition set up in the breakfast spaces (and beyond) here at ICARO, along with a book published by franzLAB that brings together the 365 “divertissements”, giving form to a delightful year in which breakfast became a laboratory for imagination and a daily act of attention.

* The pictures are for sale. A price list is available at reception.
